HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY MOM

Irene Rosalind Ferris-Banks
March 31, 1919-June 26, 2001
She married Kenneth Andrew Banks on October 30, 1937 and they raised three daughters.
Mom loved God, family, babies, her gardens, fishing and rock hounding.
She worked away from home for many years and still was able to raise huge gardens, can the produce, raise and butcher countless chickens, turkeys and geese and make delicious meals.
She could fish the rivers with the best of them, scale, gut and cook her catch as well as Dad's.
She made home brew and wine and root beer that sometimes blew up in the attic.
She sewed beautiful clothes for her daughters and cut and permed their hair.  She cut her husband's hair too but she didn't perm it. :)
She washed clothes in a wringer washer and hung them on the clothesline to dry, then sprinkled them with water to dampen them and ironed them to perfection.
She listened to everyone's troubles and laughed with them in happy times.
With dad's help she brought beautiful Christmases to our house even when money was tight. She made candy and sewed new clothes for last years dollies after giving them a much needed bath and worked hard to make our little cottage a celebration of the birth of the Christ child.
She taught us how to make colorful paper chains for the Christmas tree dad brought in and helped us drape them over the tree.
She created beautiful Easter baskets from round oatmeal boxes and colored crepe paper using flour and water paste.
She taught us to make do or do without. She was the 'mother of frugal' and she was generous and kind.
She would be 92 now and planting her garden if she were still with us.
I can only imagine the gardens she is planting in heaven.
Love you mom.

There is pain in every loss but it seems we miss our mother's as much as we would miss one of our own limbs. This is a beautiful tribute to your mom and Happy Mother's Day to you.
