Winter Wonderland

I made a slideshow of snowy pictures I took yesterday but IMAGESHACK will not let me post it. So if you click on the Winter Wonderland title, You can see the them.

We have SNOW, ice, icicles, north east wind, black ice and everything that winter is!!! Last nights temperature hit eight below zero with the wind chill factor to prove it.
After all the hustle and bustle of Thanksgiving, our town is moving at a snails pace. Businesses, government offices, stores, schools, most everything is closed.
It's interesting how at times like this we reach out to help one another. I have had several offers already. We live up at the base of Chuckanut Mountain and have a few good sized hills to climb to get home. Most of us don't have vehicles capable of that sort of travel.
A neighbor called us all today to let us know her husband was making a neighborhood walk. If we need anything, groceries, medications, etc, to catch him as he goes by and give him our list. He has a big four wheel drive and can make it up our steep hills. He's been driving these hills for over sixty years and really knows his stuff when it comes to driving!

Yesterday a cousin called to let me know her nephew has a four wheel drive and will do errands for me. I don't even know her nephew, but he just wants to be helpful. His mommy sure raised him right!

My brother in law, who lives next door, came over this morning and dug me out . Now I can get off the front deck safely.
All of this kindness just makes me feel all warm and hugged!

I don't like the cold and I don't like being house-bound for long, but I must say it's all worth while when we find what wonderful family, friends and neighbors we are blessed with.

Tonight I plan to make popcorn and hot cocoa, watch a good movie and let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
God Bless All!

SPEAK UP

Concerning my previous post, I want to say that I know how ugly and distasteful the topic of abortion is and I realize there are many good Christian conservative's who feel just as strongly as I do about it.
Unfortunately, because it is so horrible, and makes us feel depressed, we tend to 'look the other way' instead of facing it head-on and doing all we can to stop this insanity.
We are too quick to become complacent, which is actually acceptance, instead of fighting it with all the fervency we would if it were our own child about to be murdered.

So when election time comes around again get off your duff and VOTE for the RIGHT candidates. Call all your friends, family, etc, and remind them to vote.
There are more Christian Conservatives than there are heathen liberals so the only reason I can see that abortionist's are becoming wealthy by killing our babies is that too many God fearing Christians have become lazy and are leaving it all to the 'other guy.'
I'm sure glad Jesus didn't 'leave it to the other guy'

We have to fight for what is right.
There is a war against terrorism happening in forign countries right now.
If our little butchered babies could talk, they would tell you there is terrorism happening right now, every day in our hospitals and abortion clinics.
Their blood cries out for us to fight this war just as our troops are fighting for us in Iraq.

With a short training course you can volunteer to counsel girls who are considering abortion.
Call your local churches and ask what you can do to help stop this hateful slaughter.
Who knows, someday your Great-great granddaughter may thank you.

TAKE A STAND

"He rammed scissors into the base of her scull to make an opening for the syringe he shoved in to suck her brains out, as her legs kicked desperately and her fingers clenched in pain. Her scream was silent, her body convulsed in the throes of death.
Then she was still. The puddles of blood were witness to the violence of her torture and murder.
He callously tossed her still warm and twitching body into the trash receptacle, pulled off his bloody gloves and tossed them on top of her.
He joked with his comrades about this being number fifteen already today, twenty more this afternoon and we have broken our record!"

Sounds like a hideously, gruesome murder, doesn't it.
Well you are right.
That is exactly what partial birth abortion is. Murder.
You would be surprised at how many people approve of this atrocity,
Even knowing exactly what takes place.
Hearts have become hardened and Satan is laughing.
Please go see and/or hear hear Ken's post about this. It is very informative and tells us how we can help stop this hateful sin.
Dear Lord God forgive us for letting it go this far. Posted by Picasa

HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!

I have restored with Photoshop, and placed hundreds of old photographs, with dates & captions in my picture album in my computer.
Now I want to put them on a CD as a slideshow, with captions AND music.
Does anyone know how this is done?
What extra computer programs will I need.

Christmas is nearly here and I want to give the CD's to all of my children.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

DAYS OF AUTUMN

After a few weeks of rain and wind, today the sun made a welcome appearance.
It lifted my spirits so much, I cleaned house, sweeping and mopping, dusting and rearranging. Ahhhh! It feels good to have the place clean again.
My Puppies were eager to get out and run, having been housebound throughout the rainy days. The temp has only been in the high forties so I put their coats on them, and let them out to the fenced in back yard, where they ran their little legs off. And dug more holes in their play area.
Yorkies don't have an undercoat so they get chilled easily.
I always go out with them because large birds, raccoons and a few other critters would love to have my little puppies for lunch. I keep a three prong pitch fork handy, just incase I ever need it.
I heard of a lady releasing her little dog from it's leash at a rest stop, and an eagle swooped down and took the poor little thing. I don't want that to happen to my dogs.

Because of a back problem I wasn't able to do much in my flower gardens this summer, so now that the back is a little better, I am trying to clean them out for spring blooming.
While puppies had their playtime, I cut back some blackberries that were coming through the fence from the neighbor's yard, and clipped back the concord grape, as well as many dried flower stalks.
I was wearing a heavy flannel shirt and a stocking cap but had failed to put on warm shoes. Needless to say my feet got wet and very cold.
When I came in, I peeled off the wet sox and put on house slippers, then had to give the pups a foot bath to get the mud cleaned off before they got it all over the house. You can't imagine how much mud gets trapped between their toes!
After they were dried, the two of them curled up on their fuzzy blanket on the couch and immediately fell asleep. Apparently all that fresh air and exercise wore them out.

Now here I sit, finally warming up, with a cup of Liptons Gentle Orange herbal tea slightly sweetened, and wool sox on my feet.
I think all that fresh air and exercise wore me out too!

THE NAUGHTY WILLOW
We had a very stormy day, high winds and buckets of rain. Looking out my window I watched the branches of my neighbors Weeping Willow Tree as the wind tossed them in every direction. The scene reminded me of the poem below, which was written by my Grandma Lillie Mae Ferris nee Fitzpatrick, who was born in 1891, in AuSable, Michigan.

DECEIVING WILLOW
We all know how Miss. Willow stands most demurely,
With her beautiful, long, green skirts down to the ground.
We expect her to keep them there,
Dressed in either green or brown.

It so happened on a dark and windy night,
With the storm clouds scudding swiftly, to keep the moon from sight,
I looked out my darkened window, down into my neighbor's yard,
And what I saw before my eyes, to believe was very hard.

You would think a Jazz band was playing on the wind,
While she danced like a street gamin, pleased because she's sinned.
Why, that hussy threw herself around, as if she were intoxicated,
And all such goings on should be soundly berated.

I felt so ashamed of her, I could nearly cry,
While she danced on the lawn and threw her skirts up to the sky.
And I saw that nasty Mr. Elm, peeking over the house top.
I'm telling you such capers, really should be stopped.

So don't let Miss. Willow pull the wool over your eyes,
If you do, when the strong winds blow, you're in for a big surprise.
It's very hard to judge a tree, until the strong winds blow,
Be watching then when the high winds sing, if you really want to know. Posted by Picasa

I would like to thank
Diane for her kindness and patience. I had admired her slideshow and asked if it was difficult. She has been a treasure, kindly helping me figure it out. (see my first slideshow below)
We need more people in the world like Diane.
So many people claim to be a Christian but you don't see much of Christ in them. But Diane...... She is one who practices what she preaches.
Just reading her blog you feel the love and warmth this sweet lady shares.
God Bless you Diane, for being exactly who the Lord created you to be.
