THE FAIR

My sweet Patty took me to the Northwest Washington Fair on Tuesday. We had a wonderful time even though it was pretty hot out. We enjoy looking at the same exhibits. Above is an applique wall hanging. Someone did a huge amount of work here. I happen to love old barns so this really caught my eye. This is a huge quilt made up of many barn scenes. I absolutely love it! Each individual scene is a picture in itself. Enlarge this for a better view.

Here is just one of the pictures. Notice the 'log cabin' like framing around each picture. That is a lot of work in itself. I think I would enjoy making something like this but am not sure about all the time it would take. See how the cow has stuck it's head between the fence rails? That is just what they do. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence!

I like this dahlia filled cowboy boot and apparently the judges did too!

We took a long break and watched the Highland Dancers perform. There was a piper and other music for them to dance to. I am amazed at the stamina these people have and how light on their feet they are. I couldn't help wiggling my toes in time with the music. If you have some Irish and or Scottish blood like I do, holding perfectly still when music like this is playing is just plain torture. Somethings got to move! It's just in your blood.

If you've ever been to a fair you are very aware of the delicious aromas wafting through the air when you are close to the concessions. They totally cover the barn odors! The hamburgers with fried onions, baked potatoes, corn on the cob, corn dogs, cotton candy, elephant ears, curly fries, cheesecake on a stick, scones, fresh coffee, philly steak, pizza, funnel cakes, popcorn, kettle corn, donuts, did I mention fried onions? Well they are worth mentioning again. YUM! Patty and I settled for taco salads and cotton candy for our fair treats. Are you getting hungry yet?

This is just one of the many displays and my favorite. I was impressed at how nicely each box was designed.

There was lots of art work, paintings, drawings etc. This was done by a young teen. What an interesting purple cow! It looks sort of happy doesn't it?

A little humor always perks things up and helps us get our mind off the aching knees, hips and backs. The wilted carrots add to this whimsical squash person.

A very clever little boy created this fascinating potato critter! Is that jerusalem artichokes for antlers ot ginger root?

I can't imagine a fair without the horses. This one was eager to have his nose patted. He was B-I-G!

By the time we finished walking through all the barns we were beginning to feel like these sleepy critters. I got a kick out of how they are laying, with one's foot over the head of the other. Just plain worn out!
Patty and I had a good time. I hope we can do it again next year.
Thank you honey girl!

******
I appologize for not posting much lately and also not visiting. I have had a lot going on in my life this summer and my mind has not been on blogging. I hope I will be doing better soon.
I pray our Heavenly Father will be with all of you.
Hugs!
