COUNTY FAIR!

Patty won two tickets to the Northwest Washington Fair and invited me to go with her. She has a torn ligament in her knee and I'm still getting strength back so we hobbled around and had a wonderful time! The flowers were past their prime but still pretty The grandstand show featured several events but our favorite was the draft horses. They had several teams out in the arena at the same time doing a freestyle. I am always amazed at how well behaved these sweet horses are and how gifted the handlers are. They drive these big beauties like a cadillac! Click to enlarge photos

Just look how sharp this team looks. They are so well kept and I can't imagine what it costs to feed them.
Another beautiful team, pulling, prancing and loving every minute of it. They look so proud.

Here's a team pulling their pretty blue wagon. The drivers usually have shirts to match their wagon and the ribbons etc on their team. They all looked so sharp we just had to applaud them!
~~~
I bought a new CD at the fair. It was playing at one of the booths. It's called HEAVENLY FLUTES with Atahualpa playing Christian songs on Pan Flute, with accompaniment. It is just beautiful!
I also tasted my first Shushy. Won't be doin' that again!
After the fair we went to I-Hop'S for chicken fried steak dinners! YUM
Another front yard visitor yesterday morning but take a good look. He is growing a tree out of his head! LOL!
Actually it is nearing rutting season and the bucks are rubbing their antlers against anything and everything to get the velvet off. It must be itchy because this one had a patch of blood at the base of it's antlers from trying so hard. I am hoping the bucks don't use my trees and shrubbery again for this purpose. They have destroyed so much already.
Look at this pretty little darling. I pick up bloomed out and sick plants at the nearby grocery and bring them home and nurse them back to health. It stays damp and cool at the north side of my house so I use it for a hospital bed. I'm so glad I got this one. See the beautiful shade of blue her eyes are? And yes, this is the actual color!
My veggie garden is producing although the green beans are very slow this year. I think you can see what I'll be having for supper.
Parsley & Buttered new potatoes (not all of them haha) with green onions, Sliced tomato with chive & sour cream, Green beans and sliced cucumber left over from the one I ate part of yesterday. All grown totally organic. No pesticides or other chemicals. I grow Marigolds, garlic and other herbs in the garden to control the aphids and slugs. Also take my shovel after the slugs. I think they hear me coming because I haven't found many lately!
My sister made this cute pregnant cake for our younger sister's baby shower several years ago. I just came across it and had to share. Isn't it a great idea? Sister Bonnie is very talented. She not only does cakes but her woodworking projects are incredible, and she paints too, and can fix cars. She is awesome!
Our youngest sister Barbara and her hubby lived in Ketchikan, Alaska for a few years and were able to get some really beautiful pictures. I don't know exactly where this was taken but it's a beaut!
About me:
I am feeling much stronger and the sick tummy is pretty much gone. I saw the surgeon's nurse practitioner who told me I have a large mass on top of the same kidney that has the tumor, but she said it doesn't look malignant. I'm not sure what they look for to determine that. I see the surgeon on the 4th and will ask to see the scan. I think because there is so much corruption in the world today I want to be sure there is really a problem with the kidney before I let them take it out. For all I know they may want to 'harvest' one for a friend or something. Yes I know I'm skeptical but isn't it a sign of the times?
Again I thank you for your prayers.
May He bless each of you and see to your every need.
Love & Hugs!
YARD SALE
After several days preparation and some HARD work my three daughters and I had a yard sale in my oldest daughter's yard. We had lots of customers and made more money than I thought we would, over $300. Of course we shopped too...:)
Here is my great grandson Dylan sorting shoes and slippers for his brother to display.
And here is his brother Tyson doing a super job of lining them all up neatly. These boys are incredible helpers.
Of course the kids had fun too. Choosing toys and trying on hats. Isn't Kenny cute?
At one o'clock everything went for half price. Here are Julia, Hailee and Kenny drawing attention to their sign.
It was hard work but still fun as a family project. Never the less, I am sooooo glad it's done and my attic is much neater now.
The house next door to the sale has a maple tree that is turning color and dropping leaves already. Is it really autumn?
~~~~~~~
Ok, now for my prayer request.
The day after the sale I woke up very sick and couldn't stop throwing up. My girls took me to emergency where I was given medication intravenously to stop the vomiting and another med for pain. Then the doctor ordered a cat scan to see what was going on. He found that my stomach was very inflamed which could have been the cause of the vomiting, but no definite diagnosis was given.
Now to see once again how the Lord works in our life... they also found a tumor on one of my kidneys. They weren't looking for it and were quite surprised that it was found. So am I!
The tumor is small, about the size of a marble. and I see a Urologist Friday to learn the plan of action. It will be surgically removed, this much I was already told.
We are praying there is no malignancy and I hope you will be praying with us.
In the meantime, I am still not feeling very well, my tummy doesn't want to settle down and my diet of saltines and water is not doing much to strengthen me. I haven't forgotten you and hope to be back soon.
God bless

THE POST WITH NO NAME
Here are the dried seed pods of the patch of Columbine I posted earlier this summer. It has been a hot, dry summer and flowers are going to seed sooner than usual.
I have a hard time photographing the color red for some reason. This flower is known by the name of Lucifer Crocosmia but I refuse to call anything in my yard Lucifer. I prefer Cardinal Crocosmia. Isn't that much nicer?

Some thirsty little sparrows enjoyed a nice drink of water on a hot day. I learned that if you put a flat stone in the bottom of the bird bath the birds are more apt to use it. I also learned why birds won't go near my black birdbath. They don't like the color for some reason. I plan to paint mine green.

This merry little Marigold has not completely opened her petals. I think those still unfurled make her look like she has her hair in curlers.

Every garden has a few surprises. This one knocked my socks off!
Siamese Twin English Cucumbers. I sure never expected to see that!
I gave them to my sister Bonnie who loves Cucumber sandwiches. I hope it tastes good even if it is strange!
Here's a very happy picture. My great grandson Kenny celebrated his 6th last week end. I'm not kidding, this little guy had this beautiful smile throughout the entire party, especially while opening all his presents. :)

Here he is with his uncle and a friend enjoying a leggo set he got. I am amazed at how well he can put these things together.

I just got this Clematis this spring. It's called Paul II. Unfortunately the deer like to snack on them so I only have one blossom to enjoy. Hopefully next year will be better.

The blue Nigella and the birdbath are nearly the same color. The Phlox in the background is blooming nicely thanks to several applications of blood meal. Without it the deer would have eaten them to the ground long before now.

I know this is an odd thing to post but I am really curious.
I found it at the beach a few months ago and am fascinated with the textured pattern on it. It is much heavier than other stones this size and I'd sure like to know what it is and what made the pattern.
~~~~~
We were on water restriction last week because of an algae growing in the water pipes. The restriction has been lifted so I need to go out and water everything real good today. All my baby Lillies are crying for a drink of water!
***
God Bless all.
